The police have confirmed that Remi Tinubu's convoy was not involved in a road accident in Ondo.

The Ondo State Police Command has refuted claims that a vehicle in the convoy of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu was responsible for the tragic death of a nine-year-old girl in Akure on Thursday.

DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the command’s spokesperson, issued a statement clarifying that these reports are entirely baseless and misleading.

"The attention of the Ondo State Police Command has been drawn to a false report published by Sahara Reporters on April 17, which alleged that the convoy of First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu was responsible for the unfortunate death of a young girl in Akure," the statement reads.

The police investigation, supported by eyewitness accounts, revealed that the incident was caused by a hit-and-run driver in an unregistered white Lexus vehicle. According to a witness, Ayanlade, who observed the incident, he pursued the fleeing vehicle on a motorcycle immediately after the crash, which occurred in the Oba-Ile area of Akure.

The State Police Commissioner visited the grieving family personally and assured them that a thorough and transparent investigation would be conducted into the incident.

“At no point was the First Lady’s convoy involved in this tragedy,” reaffirmed the spokesperson.
